About the Blackmagic Cinema Camera 2.5K


The Blackmagic Cinema Camera 2.5K is one of the first digital film cameras released by Blackmagic Design. Very experimental and unlike any of its successors, this camera body features a 2.5K Fairchild sensor, offering 13 stops of dynamic range, and is capable of recording true (lossless) RAW, CinemaDNG, Apple ProRes, and Avid DNxHD. KASTLE RENTALS' testing found significantly better lowlight performance from the Blackmagic Cinema Camera 2.5K, than the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K G2. Where the Blackmagic Cinema Camera 2.5K falls behind in ease of user experience, it makes up for in quality. The Blackmagic Cinema Camera 2.5K produces a uniquely cinematic and "film-like" image, unmatched by any other Blackmagic cameras, and most closely comparable to the images captured by ARRI's ALEXA line.
